These are basics We're talking about.7s,8s,and 9s are for live work.they are thinner and produce more treble. Heavy strings are for anywhere but live!!!! Haveyou been invited to watch a band because the guitarist is mustard, oniy to be disappointed because all you can gear is, didly,didly, ddidly, dee, dee, deeeeeee etc.(quite muffled sounding too) its beca the tone is over coloured and the strings are too heavy!!!! You can use a boost pedal, but all the girls have their fingers in their ears. Afterwards they all say, 'yeah, they were good, but they knew it!" 'they were too loud '! How many times have you all seen this? Bass players are the same. You should use very lightweight strings and (here we go) 10 inch speakers!! Let all the bass come from the bass drum! That way you don't get the Doppler effect and sounding out of tune! (The fire engine going past is the Doppler effect) Live depends on the length and height of a room. Stay away from the low mids! (The mud frequencies) Its a three dimensional thing its very easy to get low mids live. It happens exponentially thrown down the room. Its treble that's hard. People used to say to me, "i could hear everything loud and clear"! Its simple,when you play live, reduce your string size!!!!!
